In addition to criticizing the "six-pack of mediocrity and banality" reconstruction proposals themselves, Martin will comment on Saturday's mass meeting in New York to rebuild the World Trade Center. "We have six weenie proposals with buildings that reflect fear, not confidence, and that reflect a massive failure of reconstruction leadership" says Martin. "Thousands of people got together in New York on July 20th; the reconstruction leadership was stunned by support for tall towers." Joining Martin on Andy Martin's America will be Derek Turner, sponsor of one of the WTC reconstruction proposals. "Mr. Turner was there," says Martin. "We can hear about events from someone who was there." Martin's controversial program "Andy Martin's America" has become a fulcrum of foreign policy debate, political analysis and contemporary commentary on the Internet. Martin is a national columnist for Out2.com. Martin is a former tenant of the World Trade Center and operated a security/economic consulting firm at the WTC. Martin has been involved in broadcasting for 34 years, as an on-air personality, and in management, sales and consulting. Martin has been an adjunct professor of law at the City University of New York. Martin's radio program "Andy Martin's America" covers national and international matters from 1-2 P.M. E-mail andy@andymartin.com. ---------- End forwarded message ---------- I wasn't aware Derek Turner was at LTTC II...he of course is the designer of the Renaissance-Center-under-a-pyramid plan at wtc2002.com. Erik Sieb, whose newwtcproject.com design is a bit more to my liking, has sent yet more potential list addresses,I have still not finished integrating the last batches with the list. When I do,I'll be sending out more of a primer on participating in the comment process. His list has lots of Canadians...we have to be able to leverage the fact that lots of Canadians loved the Towers into aiding the reconstruction of something of fitting scale. NY local news tonight promised coverage of the overflow LTTC event tomorrow, one wonders if its results will be any different from the first, hopefully not worse. The "scale it down" message seems to be given greater priority by Whitehead's crew than "build bolder and taller",we have to reverse that. They have now reinstated the ESDC post office box as the preferred place to mail written commentaries on the site plans,as per http://www.renewnyc.com/index.shtml : LNDC Invitation for Public Comment Site Plan Options c/o Empire State Development Corporation P.O. Box 4438,Gramd Central Station New York,New York 10017 the first two lines are different this time out. Not sure why they decided not to take the mail at One Liberty...the Port Authority can be reached at 225 Park Avenue South,New York,New York 10003. The exhibit of site plan models at Federal Hall by Wall Street opens Wednesday...a bit anticlimactic now that the plans have been trashed and are being backpedalled from, but it should be there for the August public hearing and they'll take comments there too. A new feature at the website mentioned above is the Preliminary Urban Design Study that explains the reasoning leading to the six miserable plans...it's 60-plus megabytes,a 98-page PDF document in four chunks that nicely demonstrates that these things ought to be in HTML for easy use! I noted with interest that among the persons thanked in the acknowledgements of the LTTC II program were Richard Parsons, the CEO of AOL Time Warner,and...David Rockefeller, the 87-year-old billionaire ex-banker who helped the WTC get built in the first place! No idea what he thinks of the current plans or procedures. No report on how well today's September's Mission fundraiser went,I suppose those who are curious could ask them at their expense at 888-424-4685...however,they're having ANOTHER fundraiser August 7th,a $75-a-head thing at the Joshua Tree restaurant in midtown. The Team Twin Towers fundraiser last I heard was still scheduled for July 31st in Los Angeles...this fight is about more than money, but I hope we keep our fighting spirits up longer then SM and like- minded groups. -=-=- The World Trade Center towers MUST rise again, at least as tall as before...or terror has triumphed.
