Subject: WTC Rebuilding #98:New Groups,Hearing News


I'm happy to report there are two new pro-rebuilding groups
I've learned of..."Save the WTC",with a website now linked from
the http://www.put.com/wtc/ resource list,and "Remember and Rebuild",
headed by Etan Harwayne-Gidansky,no web site yet reported to me.

I've had a few reports from the New York One event last night,
though hoping for more...no word yet from the Queens event,but
since arch-memorialist big guns were apparently at the New York
one event for the television exposure,I hope our side prevailed in
Queens.

Joe Wright said that the audience was stacked with memorialists who
the moderator knew by their first names,spouting their propaganda
for most of the meeting (which *was* supposed to be about memorial
planning).Tom Auchterlonie,who watched a broadcast,reports that
Monica Iken got into a debate with Ron DeVito of Team Twin Towers
and was given the last word (though Ron has given his account on
the TTT website).Tom further said that she looked like she wanted
to kill Ron as she listened to him speak.We can't let the anti-rebuilders'
appeals sway us...let their hysteria show itself inferior to our reason.

Ray Asimov told me in a personal email that it was the nycsky.com
site that turned him into an ex-rebuilder like Grayson,so we have
to be alert to counter arguments like the ones offered there!

Governor McGreevey has been demanding more say for New Jersey in
the site plans in the last few days...an EQUAL say,he says,which
I think is going too far...but putting this in the context of seeing
to it that New Jersey victims' families are listened to.We need to
spread our appeals also...those of us who lost a pair of very tall
twins outnumber those who lost flesh and blood!And is he listening
to pro-rebuilding family members or organized anti-rebuilding ones?

Don't forget the September 5th site plan hearing at the Schimmel
Center (site of the May 23rd hearing) in downtown Manhattan...be
there if you can,be on line early if possible!!

I will be leafletting and petition-canvassing outside One Liberty
tomorrow along with some other volunteers.Do your part,even if it's
sending in site plan comments from afar or printing out the WTCRM
petition (expect a "hard" text to be available alongside the "soft"
shortly) and getting friends to sign and sending that in!

The CNN "16 Acres" show will be broadcast tomorrow,
for those who can get it.
